Rates/Ratio Activity Rubric

After conducting the activity which included jumping rope and shooting at the basketball hoop to gather data you are to prepare a written report which includes the following.
Cover Page (Is creative and includes school, project, student´s name, as well as place and date). 10 Points

Introduction( Paragraph that tells about the activity and the stops followed to gather data) 15 Points

Math Problems
You are to find the ratio Number of jumps in 1 minute (60 Sec), fing the unit rate for you and your partiner(2) Number of jumps in 3 minutes (180 Sec) find the unit rate for you and your partner (2)
Numer of shots in one minute(60 sec), find the unit rate (for you and your partner)(2)
Number of shots in three minutes (180 Sec) you and your partner. (2)
Write the ratios(a comparison of two quantities using a fraction, a division and the word to) for shots scored/shots made in one and three minutes for you and your partner (4)
Total Number of problems (12 Problems) 50 POints

Conclusion Paragraph includes your dibriefing related with the activity 15 Points

Project Report is organized, clean and coherent 10 Points

Week as of October 26- October 20

This week we will be covering
Ratios and Rates
  • Students will be able to write ratios as fractios in simplest form.
  • Determine unit rates
  • Solving Proportios
  • Use proportions to solve real-world problems.

Fractions, Decimal and Percens

  • Students will be able to express percents as fractions and vice versa.
  • Express percents as decimals and vice versa.

We will continue to reinforce operations with integers.

We will be working in a foldable for Decimals, Fractions and Percents.

Keep in mind that students should practice daily because Pop Quizzes may be done any time.

Test Next Tuesday, October Nov. 3rd

Vocabuary, Exercises and Word Problem will be included.

Congratulations most of your songs were awsome, most of you put a lot of effort and were really creative as a traet no homework for tommorow.
For Monday you will need to have with you your "Cheat Cards" make sure that you have the conversion units. We will begin our Rate Rations and Proportions Units.

Week as of October 19-23

Keep in mind:
  • Notebook and Binders will be checked
  • Test and Quizzes need to be signed.
  • Check dates for Integers Song Activity Presentation
  • Test Integers, Ratios and Rates Tuesday, October 27th

We will be reviewing Integers Operations

(Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, Dividing) and we will also be integrating Evluating Expressions.

We are working in a Special Integer Song Activity which will be presentedto the class following this schedule.

WEdnesday, October 21 7-1,7-2, 7-3

Thursday, October 22 7-4

Students will be graded upon rubric.

To reinforce and internalize concepts students will be working in Centers during their block.

They need to practice at home as well due that they may have a Pop-Quiz any time.

We will begin working Ratios and Rates

Pages 300-303

Key Terms:

ratios: a comparison of two numbers by division.

rate: a ratio of two measurements having different units.

unit rate: a rate simplified so that it has a denominator of 1.

Students need to bring their cheat cards to class.

I strongly recommend that you watch this video review how to add and multiply integers specialle those who are having difficulty. It is a powerful tool. If you need assistance, I will have scheduled a review for today form 2:30 to 3:30 and Monday during lunch time.

They need to solve and print them. They should make a cover page with school´s name, Activity, Name, Section, Date

October 5th-October 9th

This week we will continue with Integers.
WE will be reinforcing Adding/Subtracting Integers and introdce Multiplying and Dividing Integers.
A fractio review will be held, this includes:
  • Equivalent Fractions Pg. 38
  • Simplifying Fractions Pgs. 39/40
  • Writing Improper Fractions 41/42 as Mixed Numbers
  • Writing Mixed NUmbers 43/44 as Improper Fractions
  • Comparing and Ordering 45/46 Fractions

Please make sure your child practices daily doing the homework and playing with the games that appear in the blog, to be ready for Pop-Quizzes.

Test will be Monday, October 12
