Monday, March 8th Students are to turn in Solving Rational Numbers Operations.

Pop quizzes may be placed at any time so students should study in a daily basis by doing their H.W.
This week we ill be working in:

  • Reviewing Multiplying/Dividing Rational Numbers.
Rational Numbers Operations Rubric
Students are to develop a display no bigger then 1/2 a cardboard which includes the following:
  • Title, Name, Section 5 Points
  • Writing Fractions as Decimals (2 examples) 10 Points
  • Writing Decimals as Fractions(2 examples) 10 Points
  • Least Common Multiples ( 2 examples) 10 Points (Listing the Multiples, Using the Table)
  • Divide Fractions (2 examples) 10 Points
  • Adding and Subtracting like Fractions (2 Examples) 10 Points
  • Adding and Subtracting Like Fractions (2 Examples) 10 Points
  • Creativity(Project is organized, colorful and can e used as a learning tool) 20 Points
  • Questions (Teacher will ask how did student solve some of the problems) 5 Points

Week as of February 22nd- February 26th

We ha the test of Multiplying /Dividing Rational Numbers today. Next week we will be having a test Tuesday March 1st which includes
  • Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying and Dividing Rational Numbers.
  • Word Problems will be included as well as everything included in the Packets 5-1 to 5-9
  • Vocabulary fot the Whole Section
Vocabulary for this week needs to be in the NB by Wednesday, February 24th

Make sure to practice daily by doing you H.W. and Playing the games.
I also informed the students that Pop Quizzes reated with Mountain Math and Plato will be given at least once a week.
During our block period last week, working in a class activity to reinforce how to change fractions to decimals and to percents. We will integrate this with the Dispayin Data Section that we will be reviewing this week.

For Friday February 26th students are to present their Project which should include:

Page 1- Cover page (School´s Name, Subject, Project´s Name, Students name, Grade and Section, Place and Date) 5 Points

Page 2- Vocabulary: They are to define (fraction, decimal, percent, degree, bar graph, Pie Graph) and provide 2 examples for each. 15 Points

Page 3- Data table (40 Points)
data was recorded in class, and the conversions were completed as well.
Unfortunately those students who didn´t bring their Skittles bag will have 20 Points less(was announced one week in advanced)

We will have an activity so students are to bring skittles according to schedule posted last week.

Friday February 12th Spring Break Holiday.
Pop Quizzes will be given any day therefore students will benefit from practicing daily working in the H.W. assignments and playing the games.
Students are to manage the Divisibility Rules for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 10

An activity to reinforce this will e held during each of the following Block Period.
For this activity students are to bring an individual bag of Skittles and a calculator, colors and markers.

This week we will begin working with Rational Numbers. Students will explore Rational Numbers, reviewing how to multiply and divide fractions and add and subtract like and unlike fractions. They will also practice how numbers, and determine GCF(Greatest Common Factor) and the LCM (Least Common Multiple). Tehy will examnine measures of central tendency. They will continue to solve equations and identify sequences.

It will include:
  • Solving Inequalities by Adding or Subtracting
  • Solving Inequalities by Multiplying or Dividing
  • Solving Multi-Step Inequalities
  • Students need to be able to graph, check and Solve word problems.
This week we will be reviewing and students will be working in a Group Project.
Project: Create a Game that will enable students to review the following:
  • One Step Equations
  • Two Step Equations
  • Solving Equations with Variable on Each Side
  • Solving Equations by Graphing Symbols
  • Solving Inequalities by Adding or Subtracting
  • Solving Inequalities by Multiplying or Dividing
  • Solving Multi-Step Equations
Today they were assigned in their groups and the objectives were discussed.
They will be given 20 minutes each day and 40 minutes from their block.
Games need to be created at school, therefore they are to use their time wisely.
Monday they will be presenting their ganes to the rest of the class members. A spokesperson will be selected to explain the rules.
Students aare to follow the rubric to complete the assignment.

We had several students absent last week and they missed the test that was scheduled for Tuesday, January 26th.
Review´s have been given as follow:
Monday, February 1st during lunch time and after school from 2:30 - 3:30
Tomorow will be the last review and students are to do their test Thursday, February 4th.
They need to review at home as well.
